About this website

Web Standards

This website has been designed and developed using the latest in Web Standards Best Practice with valid XHTML.

Please Note: This site will generate 1 CSS Validation Error. This has been done to 'fix' some layout issues in Safari on Apple Macs. We are aware that this is not ideal and will be addressed as soon as a more suitable solution is made available ...

Access Keys

Access keys let you navigate around without using your mouse. They can be used to jump directly to different sections of the site or certain areas within a page, without having to move your mouse at all.

IE6/7 - Hold down the ALT key, press the access key, release both keys then press ENTER
Firefox - Hold down the ALT key and press the access key
Safari - Hold down the CTRL key and press the access key

Browser Compatibility

This site will look and function best in the following browsers (% as of September 2006, Courtesy of www.w3schools.com):

Styles

Please Note: Styles are automatically disabled on IE5 for both Apple MAC and PC. Users can still access all areas of the site, and all content is available and can be easily accessed by the user. The reason that styling has been disabled is due to poor support by these browsers for the latest in CSS and Web Standards. Any user accessing the site with these older browsers will be delivered the following message:

Please Note: If you can read this message, you are using an old web browser. You can still access all information and book shows, but we recommend that you upgrade to a modern browser such as Firefox, Internet Explorer 6/7 or - for Apple Mac - Safari. They are all free to download. Thank You.

It is also worth noting that support by Microsoft for IE5 Mac no longer exists, and that IE5 PC does have known security issues.

  • IE5 (3% of users and falling)
  • IE5 - Launched March 1999
  • IE5.5 - Launched July 2000
  • IE6 - Launched August 2001
  • IE7 - Internet Explorer 7 is going to be sent out automatically to XP users as a priority Windows Update upon its launch in the next few months (2006). There are currently 3% of internet users using the beta version of the browser pre-launch, and numbers are growing fast.

[ TOP ]

We believe in maximum support for emerging web technologies that improve user experience, rather than support for out-of-date technologies with poor support for Web Standards and the latest in Best Practice. Although, as mentioned above, we ensure that all content is available on all browsers that statistics show to be in use. Numbers using IE5 are falling rapidly, numbers using Firefox and IE7 are growing ...

Accessibility

The site has a 'Text Enlargement' feature. The site has also been designed and developed for use with screen readers and other accessibility technologies.

The site uses semantically correct mark-up (the correct tag for the correct purpose) and is structured in a way that makes it fast to load, keeps form and function separate, can be easily understood and catagorised by Search Engines and is – therefore – highly accessible.
