2010 - A GOOD YEaR TO VISIT
Welcome to north wales, or 'croeso i gogledd cymru' as we say here
Dramatic scenery, spectacular coastline, heritage and culture - it’s all here in North Wales, for your group visit.
Whether it’s a hike to the top of Snowdon, singing your heart out at Bryn Terfel’s Faenol Festival or a terrifying journey over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, North Wales is perfect for group travel. And planning a group visit to North Wales couldn’t be easier.
We’ve designed this site to include accommodation, things to do and places to see, all specifically suited to groups. Our special interest and themed breaks include attractions and accommodation all in one package. Or you can use our suggested options to design your own bespoke break. The nice people at North Wales Tourism are more than happy to help with things like travel routes, itineraries and accommodation.
How about a little pilgrimage of cultural discovery? See Sir Kyffin Williams’ North Wales captured in paint and pencil at Oriel Ynys Môn, Anglesey. Hear giant of music Bryn Terfel hit the high (and low) notes at the Faenol Festival. Or watch performers from more than 50 countries battle it out at Llangollen International Eisteddfod every July.
Those with a hankering for horticulture should head to the famous Bodnant Garden in the Conwy Valley. And we’ve more in the way of gardens at the Italianate village of Portmeirion. You can leaf through the literary collections of Victorian Prime Minister WE Gladstone at Saint Deiniol’s Library, Hawarden. Or peruse the childhood home of First World War Prime Minister David Lloyd George at Llanystumdwy, on the Lly'n Peninsula.
Just drive over the border and your group can soon be visiting one of
our giant collection of castles, Medieval Europe’s most ambitious
building project. The ones at Caernarfon, Harlech, Conwy and Beaumaris are World Heritage Sites. How about a modern building venture? There’s a giant one going on right now at the top of Snowdon, the highest peak in England and Wales. It’s called Hafod Eryri and
when it’s complete you and your group will have somewhere to check the
weather and plan your route back down. In fact, after a coffee at the
summit you’ll feel on top of the world. Well, Wales at least.
